Director: School of Teacher Education
“You can reach the end of the year having made progress toward your goals and making them a reality, or not. The choice is yours. Seize the day!”
Dr. Glenne’ Whisenhunt is the Director of the School of Teacher Education and an associate professor. She earned her PhD from the University of Oklahoma in Educational Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision. Her area of research was on the process of learning Oklahoma state standards in middle school classrooms using a video game. Throughout her career, Dr Whisenhunt has always gravitated towards instructional innovation. One of the desires of her heart was to be able to be part of a program to prepare excellent K-12 teachers. God fulfilled that desire when He called her to MACU.
Dr. Whisenhunt currently teaches Instructional Strategies I & II, Educational Psychology, Students with Exceptionalities, and Student Teaching. She has been blessed in her career to have taught High School Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and 8th grade Science. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year in her school district. That same year, she was also a state finalist for the Oklahoma Teacher of the Year. Her ministry in public education shifted when she served as a High School Principal. While earning her doctorate, she provided professional development to principals, superintendents, and faculty across the state of Oklahoma. Dr Whisenhunt’s career progressed into higher education administration where she created an accessible online course structure and worked to bring educational innovation into the higher education classroom.
Dr. Whisenhunt has served in churches across Cleveland County as a preschool minister or preschool/children’s minister for 28 years. She brings her passion for instructional innovation and age-appropriate education to the church setting. She currently attends and is on staff at Northeast Baptist Church in Norman.
Outside of work, Dr. Whisenhunt enjoys spending time with her husband and family. She enjoys welcoming friends and family into her home and watching the Texas Rangers, OU, OSU, and MACU sports and classic movies.
