Mid-America Christian University Athletics is proud to announce that it will be adding men’s and women’s cross country programs and will immediately begin competing in the Sooner Athletic Conference in the fall of 2023.
The two sports will officially become the eighth and ninth varsity programs that the MACU offers, joining volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball.
“The addition of men’s and women’s cross country is something we have discussed internally for several years,” stated MACU Athletic Director Marcus Moeller. “Our seven current varsity sports all compete at an excellent level with terrific coaches and athletes. That made this the ideal time to add cross country and we are extremely excited to have an additional platform to glorify Christ, excel in the classroom and pursue athletic excellence!”
The Evangels will become the eighth cross country program to join the SAC, competing against John Brown, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Panhandle State, Southwestern Assemblies of God, Texas Wesleyan, UNT Dallas and Wayland Baptist.
The Evangels will immediately begin a national search for the program’s first head coach.
