MACU Board of Trustees Extends President Phil Greenwald’s Contract to 2030 Amid Significant Growth and Success

The Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Board of Trustees has unanimously approved an extension to President Phil Greenwald’s contract through 2030, citing remarkable growth in enrollment, revenue, and campus development under his leadership. The extension reflects the board’s confidence in President Greenwald’s vision and leadership as the University continues to flourish.

Over the past two years, MACU has experienced an impressive enrollment increase of more than 10% annually, with the number of on campus students reaching record levels, which led to the renovation of spaces to increase residence hall capacity to meet the need for on campus housing. In addition to this growth, the University has seen a 13% year-over-year increase in revenue, further positioning MACU for sustained success.

President Greenwald has overseen the successful launch of new academic and athletic programs, continuing to broaden MACU’s offerings and enhance the student experience. His leadership has also brought significant campus improvement projects to fruition, including the updates of science and innovation labs and the addition of the Scraper Counseling Center, contributing to an elevated learning environment and enhanced campus life.

MACU recently completed a successful onsite visit from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) Peer Review Team and Institution Action Council, reaffirming the University’s accreditation and commitment to academic excellence and institutional integrity. Adding to the excitement, MACU also revealed a new mascot in August 2024, one that draws inspiration from the University’s rich history and theological roots.

“We are thrilled to have President Greenwald’s leadership at the helm as we continue to build on our achievements and look toward the future,” said Dr. Randall Spence, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “His dedication to the University’s mission and his forward-thinking leadership have been instrumental in MACU’s growth and success.”

As part of MACU’s forward momentum, the University has unveiled its 2024-2027 strategic plan, which outlines objectives to expand its academic offerings as well as focusing on increasing access to education through technological advancements and innovative program delivery, as well as continuing to prioritize spiritual development in all areas of the MACU experience.

Under President Greenwald’s continued leadership, MACU is poised to expand its impact in Christian higher education while remaining committed to its mission of transforming lives for Christ.
