MACU Welcomes New Staff Members

Mid-America Christian University is excited to welcome three outstanding professionals to the MACU family, each bringing a unique set of skills, experience, and passion to their respective roles. As we continue to grow and innovate, these new additions to our academic community will play a crucial part in shaping the future of MACU.

Brad Kendall: Campus Chaplain

Brad Kendall is thrilled to return to the MACU community as our new Campus Chaplain. With over a decade of experience as an institutional chaplain in San Antonio, Texas, Brad brings a deep well of knowledge, compassion, and spiritual leadership to his new role. A proud alumnus, Brad earned his Bachelor’s degree when MACU was still known as Mid-America Bible College. He later completed his Master’s degree at Anderson University.

An ordained Church of God pastor for more than 40 years, Brad has dedicated his life to serving others, providing spiritual guidance and support to countless individuals throughout his career. His return to MACU is particularly special as his wife, Kristel, is also an alumna. The couple cherishes their three grown sons and eight beloved grandchildren, with whom they share a close bond. In his free time, Brad enjoys reading and exploring various outdoor activities, reflecting his love for both intellectual and physical pursuits.

Dr. Saundra Medrano: Director of Nursing Education

As MACU continues to make strides toward launching a new nursing program, we are pleased to introduce Dr. Saundra Medrano as the Director of Nursing Education. Dr. Medrano brings with her 25 years of experience in the nursing field, with a specialization in medical-surgical and transplant ICU care. Her expertise and leadership have been honed through her previous roles in nursing education at Redlands Community College and Marian University.

Dr. Medrano’s commitment to nursing education is deeply intertwined with her faith, which has guided her throughout her career. She balances her professional responsibilities with a strong dedication to her family, including her husband, son, two daughters, and their various pets. Under her leadership, MACU’s nursing program is poised to become a cornerstone of the University’s academic offerings, shaping the next generation of compassionate and skilled nurses.

Jessica Thompson: Dean of Student Development and Engagement

Jessica Thompson is thrilled to join the MACU family as the new Dean of Student Development and Engagement. She is deeply moved by MACU’s mission to prepare students to make a significant impact for the Kingdom of God, a mission she finds both inspiring and deeply meaningful. With a profound sense of gratitude, Jessica embraces the opportunity to work alongside the dedicated MACU team, contributing her expertise and passion to this important cause.

Jessica’s role will focus on fostering an environment where students can grow both academically and spiritually, ensuring that their time at MACU equips them for a life of service and leadership. She is particularly excited about the prospect of engaging with students on a personal level, helping them to navigate the challenges of University life while nurturing their spiritual and personal development. Through her work, Jessica is committed to honoring the shared calling of the MACU community, supporting students as they prepare to make a lasting difference in the world.

“We conducted nationwide searches and spent significant time in prayer for these leadership roles,” said MACU President Phil Greenwald. “God has brought us three tremendous people who will guide us in spiritual formation, student affairs, and our new nursing programs.”

The addition of Brad Kendall, Dr. Saundra Medrano, and Jessica Thompson to the MACU family marks a significant step forward for the University. Each brings a wealth of experience, a deep commitment to their respective fields, and a shared passion for education and service. As MACU continues to grow and evolve, the contributions of these new employees will play a vital role in shaping the future of the University and our students.
